Norbert Puetz, Ph.D.

Director, Client Focused Manufacturing (CFM)

Norbert has over 25 years of epitaxy and wafer processing experience in the optoelectronic semiconductor industry. Prior to joining Cyrium, he was with Agility Communications (JDSU) in Santa Barbara, a manufacturer of widely tunable lasers and transponders, where he held the position of Vice President, Optical Components.

In his nearly twenty years with Nortel (formerly Bell-Northern Research) he applied his expertise in various roles of increasing responsibility. In 1985, Norbert was a member of the scientific staff in the development and characterization of III-V semiconductor epitaxial materials and processes. Several years later, under his leadership, BNR's MOCVD group introduced their world-class epitaxy processes to manufacture leading-edge optical transmission products.

In 1999, as Sr. Manager within Nortel, he was responsible for the wafer production, material characterization and device failure analysis for their optoelectronics' operation. From 2001 he directed the entire optoelectronic wafer fabrication engineering team of over 100 staff.

Norbert received his Ph.D. in solid-state physics (emphasis on semiconductor technology) from the Technical University of Aachen, Germany.
